Our Commitment to Comfort. Upon acquisition, we prioritized your comfort by immediately updating all beds and linens, ensuring a restful stay from day one. Modern Amenities. In 2025, we initiated a full remodel to enhance your experience. This will include the installation of a new heating and cooling system, a new shared kitchen and commons area, complete remodeling all rooms and bathroom, all crafted to provide a welcoming and enjoyable environment for every guest.
Where Comfort Meets Convenience. With ten well-appointed rooms, our motel is designed to cater to the needs of extended-stay workers, outdoor enthusiasts, and travelers alike. Whether you're here for work or leisure, enjoy quality accommodations that make you feel right at home.
A Legacy of Hospitality. Stacy's grandfather, Lyle Sanders, played a pivotal role in the establishment of the motel, contributing to its construction when it first opened its doors in 1951 for the Edgar Gilbert family. Originally designed as a four-room unit, the motel later expanded into an L-shaped configuration, marking its growth and adaptation over the years. “The motel was a unique project where farm land was exchanged for labor,” Stacy recalled. “The Gilberts offered Grandpa Lyle an 80-acre farm south of Montezuma, near the Mahaska County line, which included a house and a pear tree.” The Sanders Pear Tree Farm continues to flourish, and the family is committed to ensuring that the Monte Motel thrives alongside it.
